Have you always wanted to write songs but never seem to have the inspiration? Or perhaps you get stuck on that tricky second verse?
This one-day practical workshop, led by a team of professional tunesmiths, guides you through various songwriting prompts and exercises to stimulate your muse. Includes group work to raise your energy levels and have more fun.
In the evening you can share your work with friends and family as part of our showcase evening.
Guidance from pro songwriters, record producers and musicians
Your three facilitators for the day will be:
- Brighton Live organiser and music promoter Mark Ede. See Brighton Live website
- Record producer and hit songwriter Steve Patterson. See Steve’s website
- Pro guitarist and rockschool boss Gordon Russell. See JamBrighton website. Gordon writes the music for Two Timers.
And we’ll have various guest tutors including songstress Cayte Webber. You can sample some of her songs on music producer Jono Buchanan’s website.
What the day covers
We cover the various elements that make a great song – from a catchy melody, to rhythmic hooks and memorable lyrics.
Discover your lyric writing strengths and style. The workshops will be held at The Brunswick Pub in Hove – home to one of Brighton’s best loved open mic nights. The pub also hosts Brighton Songwriters – a supportive community of songwriters across all genres and levels of experience.
All levels of experience and ability. We’ll ask you before the event to complete a registration form so we know a bit about you so we can shape the workshop to your needs.
