August Workshop

In August we had our very first vocal workshop with the wonderful Jo Harman. 6 songwriters took part in the hour long workshop where we practiced basic warming up and harmonies.

From the feedback I have received from the group it is probable we will hold these every few months. So if you’re interested in taking part, please email me.

More info soon regarding our part in Brighton Live and other exciting opportunities for group members!

July collaboration

Thanks to all those who came out to the collaboration workshop, it was fantastic to see everyone playing together and using their initiative when coming up with other parts for both Annika and Lisa’s song. We even managed to film a song so this should hopefully be available to view at some point in the coming weeks.

The next workshop on 4/8/10 at The Latest Musicbar will be split into two halves; the first (from 7-8pm) will be an intensive singing workshop with local Brighton singer Jo Harman (www.joharmanproject.com) sadly, these spaces have already been filled.

The second half will be a normal workshop, where you can play your songs and receive feedback from other musicians. This will last until 9pm.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me at adam_bennett@live.com

The June Workshop with Chris T-T

Thanks to all who came to the workshop, it was (as ever) a fantastic experience to listen to Chris’ songs and have him give us his opinions on ours. There’ll be pictures up of the workshop over the next few days! If any body has any suggestions for musicians to take part in our workshops please leave a comment below.

We are now giving members the opportunity to take part in a ‘Loose Tuesday’ filming session. These give two songwriters the chance to play one or two songs whilst being mic’d up and filmed, the finished product will then be given to the songwriter.

We are also going to begin group singing lessons with Jo Harman. There will be 6 slots available and lessons will take place every other month.

We will be announcing more details on these in the coming weeks, but if you are interested in taking part in the lessons/filming please contact the email below.

www.brightonsongwritersnetwork.ning.com has finally been set up! This is a network where you can upload pictures, music and videos. There is also an option to begin your own blog or get feedback from members in a forum. This is completely free, I cant stress enough how useful this could be for you as a musician/writer. It has all the benefits of our monthly workshops, the only difference being, its online.

There are still some changes that need to be made, but on the whole it is ready to be used, to join please either send an email to adam_bennett@live.com or post your email below and I will send you an invite.

We are going to begin setting this up next week and will keep updates on the facebook page. If you have any ideas/contributions please do not hesitate to let us know either by commenting on here or via facebook.
